Nuit Blanche
Nuit Blanche, which quite literally translates to White Night, originated in France and represents a night of arts and culture. Museums, art galleries and cultural institutions are free and the streets transform into art spaces in their own right filled with installations and performers. My first weekend in Melbourne i was treated to this.
There is not enough art in the world and less in the city. By the beaches and country side you have all the beauty of nature to admire and immerse yourself in, but, in the city trapped in routine and the structure of minds striving to reach the impossible it is too easy to not see beyond your own vocations and desires.
Nuit blanche was a wonderful way to change the impression of something so concrete. To find art around every corner and in every ally. If only it was a little more permanent. x
