The art of being mindful.
Mindfulness is an ancient practice found in a wide range of Eastern philosophies, including Buddhism, Taoism and Yoga. It involves consciously bringing awareness to your here-and-now experience with openness, interest, and receptiveness.
"Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally."
Adopted by celebs and a few 'specialists' charging extortionate prices for their services its looking a bit like the latest fad - In reality though there is no need for specialists or money.
To practice find a quiet place and focus your mind soley on your breath. Every time your mind begins to wander being it back to your breath. Be aware of your body and it's sensations. If you take 30 minutes or 3 it doesn't matter as long your slowing your thoughts and bringing a sense of calm and still to the often frantic state of our minds.
Mindfulness is simply about - letting go of the past and not worrying about the future - living in the present.
